When 12-year-old Ashley Pond disappeared after leaving home to walk to the bus stop in Oregon City in 2002. the community began to worry. As searches for Ashley took place and she was nowhere to be found, fear mounted. And then, almost exactly two months later, a classmate of Ashley’s, 13-year-old Miranda Gaddis, disappeared under very similar circumstances. At that point, the FBI got involved and eventually found what happened to them. A man named Ward Weaver, who had a long history of violence, would eventually be convicted for the girls’ murders.
