Deputy Kevin Joseph Tarsia was a 36‑year‑old Broome County Sheriff’s Deputy in New York who was murdered in the line of duty on July 4, 2002, during a nighttime patrol in Grange Hall Park in Kirkwood, just above the Pennsylvania border. Deputy Tarsia is remembered as a hardworking, mechanically gifted, community‑minded officer who served 13 years with the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and left behind a large, devoted family.
