On September 22, 2007, the Joe Cool, a 47-foot charter fishing vessel, departed from Miami Beach Marina for a routine trip to Bimini, Bahamas. On board were: Captain Jake Branam, Kelley Branam (his wife), Scott Gamble (Jake’s half-brother), and Samuel “Sammy” Kairy (a close family friend). The Two passengers—Kirby Archer and Guillermo Zarabozo—chartered the boat and paid $4,000 in cash for the trip. They claimed their girlfriends had accidentally packed their passports, making flying impossible. But their true intentions were far darker…
