Episode 525: Michael Negrete

Michael Negrete, an 18‑year‑old UCLA student, vanished on December 10, 1999 after returning to his dorm room around 4:30 a.m. after chatting with a friend. Later, his roommate found all his belongings — wallet, ID, keys — still in the room with no signs of struggle. Extensive searches by campus police, local law enforcement, volunteers, and scent dogs uncovered no trace of him, and witness reports near campus and on bus routes were never confirmed. Over the years, investigators pursued numerous leads, interviewed friends and classmates, and considered possibilities ranging from voluntary disappearance to foul play or accidental death. To this day no body has ever been found, no arrests have been made, and the case — one of several high‑profile disappearances in Los Angeles at the time — remains open as of July 2026, with law enforcement still accepting tips. If you have any information about the disappearance of Michael Negrete, please contact UCLA Police Department 310-825-1491 or the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department 323-890-5500
